One out of four fishes are reportedly caught illegally. An ecological scandal with devastating consequences. Seabeds are decimated, species are threatened. However, as Paul Watson of the NGO Sea Shepherd says, “if the ocean dies, we will die”… This is also a story of human horror. On board of these boats, slaves from Burma, Thailand and Cambodia who sometimes work 22 hours a day and the captains do not hesitate to murder them in the open sea. The oceans, one of the last “far west”? An edifying investigation by Jérôme Delafosse and Jérôme Pin in 3 key countries: France where Paul Watson is based. Spain where one of the protectors of the oceans, Antonio Vidal, lives. And in Indonesia, where the Minister of Fisheries is waging a merciless war against these outlaws.
