Winter 1944. In the heart of Nazi Germany, 76 pilots – British, Canadian, Norwegian and French – held in a Luftwaffe prison camp, escaped. The tunnel used to escape was built in the greatest secrecy, right under the noses of the German prison guards. This epic was immortalized in 1963 by John Sturges’ successful film “La Grande Evasion” with Steve Mac Queen. But the true story of these men goes far beyond the fiction imagined by Hollywood… Among the witnesses of this documentary is Jack Lyon, one of the last survivors of this adventure.
