39/45: Forbidden loves

It was in Paris that Raymonde met her great love, the German officer Josef during the Second World War. This “hen with Krauts” was not a “venal whore” but she crossed the red line, becoming guilty of horizontal collaboration. His name was Maurice-Robert. A defeated soldier of the French Army, prisoner of the Reich in 1941, he charmed Gertrud, the pretty German worker in the sawmill where he worked. Yet he was risking death, Maurice. Elisabeth, an excellent mother of the Reich, dared the unthinkable. Cheating on her Aryan husband in Berlin with a bearded Gestapo beard, with a wife, who was also a resistant Jew. She adored her Felice, so much so that she could have followed her to Auschwitz. Later in the conflict, with the mass arrival of American troops on French soil, Rod met Huguette in 1944. The GI wants to marry the French woman but the orders are formal, an American soldier is not allowed to mate when he is on a mission, the French women surely have venereal diseases. This film is the chrono-thematic account of 4 stories of illicit and emblematic love affairs of the Second War by the survivors, their descendants and the best experts. Stories as complex as humanity can produce. The story of shameful love affairs against a backdrop of war, Nazism and horrors. A universal document that will question the grey areas of our psyches, shed new light on the worst conflict in history.
