The establishment of a Mayan city in Chichén Itzá, between Valladolid and Mérida, in Yucatán, Mexico, is explained by the presence of several cenotes, real natural treasures. Many mysteries remain about the construction of the archaeological site, which is believed to have spanned several centuries. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this architectural gem consists of two sectors: “Old Chichen” and “New Chichen”. The latter houses impressive buildings resembling Tula, the capital of the Toltecs. This barbaric people would have come from the Mexican high plateau in the 10th century, led by the deity Quetzalcoatl or Feathered Serpent.
